Kulturista - Cultural Experiences in West Sweden

C U LT U R E E X P E R I E N C E S I N W E S T S W E D E N 3 We’re proud in West Sweden that increasing numbers want to experience the cultural sights and attractions we have in our region. The first edition of Kulturista! – Cultural expe- riences in West Sweden, was published a few years ago. The idea was to present a collection of some of the jewels in our crown. Now the next edition is ready. Some of the attractions will be familiar, some are new. This time we’re focusing even more on West Swedish design and architecture – and what is it that characterises it in the first place? Kulturista! will guide you to Porcelain Town Lidköping with its long tradition of design, to Läckö and Naturum Vänerskärgården Victoriahuset, that has such an intimate relationship with the environment that it appears to blend into the surroundings. To Dalsland and the unique 72 Hour Cabins where just a thin glass wall separates guests from nature outside. To the fashion and sculpture city of Borås which increases its cultural offer of world unique art in an urban environment year after year, through both Kulturista in West Sweden! sculpture and street art. To Vara, where the Klein blue Station House is a sight in itself. Nature and culture go together, and on the island of Tjörn you can cycle between attractions in the World’s Sweatiest Art Trail. And whichever way you get there, the Bohus coast is full of art treasures: the Nordic Watercolour Museum, Pilane on Tjörn, and the gallery in Bohusläns Museum. In Varnhem Kata Gård is witness to the Viking period and the Christianisation of Sweden – several hundred years earlier than previously thought. You can follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims, past the medieval churches on Kinnekulle or alongside Lake Vänern on the way to Nidaros. And you can also go to a festival, do a course, an art tour or just lose yourself in Gothenburg’s cultural quarter and its world famous theatres and museums. Kulturista! is a call to get out and explore culture and nature. Don’t just leave the magazine on the coffee table, let it guide you to places, preferably in the company of someone else!
