During her time in Lidköping she’s im- proved a lot as a player; in her first season she scored 10 goals, and last year 19 goals! – Swedish football is more focused on theory, while in the USA they focus more on shooting hard and running fast. I’ve gained a better understanding of the game during my time in Sweden. With training sessions 5–6 days a week and 35 matches per season she doesn’t have time for much else other than foot- ball, but sometimes she takes a day off to enjoy Lidköping. – I love to walk through the square and have fika with some friends. I also enjoy driving to Läckö in the summer listening to ABBA. The view out there is perfect! 1 W hy would a young girl leave the sun of Florida to move to Lidköping? The answer is simple for football player Taylor Townsend. – I love playing football and Lidköping is a quaint town with friendly people, she says. Taylor is now into her third year play- ing for Lidköping football club, and even though the weather isn’t as good as back home in Florida she’s having a great time here. – I settled into the club very quickly and have really learned to appreciate Swedish culture and the atmosphere, which differs quite a lot from America. It takes a long time to get to know a per- son here, but once you do, you’re friends for life, she says. In the USA, women’s football (or soccer, as they call it there) is not as big as in Sweden and that’s one of the reasons why W herever you may be in Desti- nation Läckö-Kinnekulle, Lake Vänern is never far away with fantastic experiences in the form of bathing, fishing, boat trips and water-based activities.
