And once out on the lake away from the shoreline, you could easily imagine you are out on the open ocean. Fishing with sport-fishing equipment is free here and the types of fish you could be catching include zander, perch, pike, whitefish, salmon and salmon trout. The lake is home to a total of 35 species, making it the most species-rich waters in Sweden. If you come by boat, you can moor up at one of the local guest harbours. Want to learn more about Lake Vänern and life and culture in and around this vast lake? Then visit Vänermu- seet in Lidköping. You will find displays and aquaria revealing the wildlife of Lake Vänern. The Vänermuseet offers an abundance of summer activities. From June to August, cultural historians, environmental experts, artists and geologists can be found in and around the museum and the streets and squ- ares of Lidköping. The programme includes open creative workshops, water experiments and feeding the fish in the aquarium zone with just over 40 different fish species from Lake Vänern. Im Vänermuseet in Lidköping finden Sie dazu Ausstellungen und Aquarien mit der Tierwelt des Vänern. Im Sommer ist im Vänermuseet immer etwas los. Von Juni bis August sorgen dort sowie überall in Lidköping Kulturhistoriker, Umweltexperten, Künstler und Geologen für ein buntes Programm, unter anderem ein offenes Atelier, Wasserexperimente und im Aquarium Fütterung der rund 40 Fischarten aus dem Vänern. At Svalnäs the water is shallow and a pleasant temperature. Villabadet is close to the centre of Lidköping with grassy areas and a sandy beach. Kinnekulle Camping has a beach, playground and kiosk. Jutavikens badplats is child-friendly with shallow water.
