HUSABYCHURCH The church, castle and well at Husaby tell the story of the Christianisation of Sweden. Do not miss the exhibition in the church tower! THEOBSERVATIONTOWER The views from this 19-metre tower is magnificent. In clear weather you can see 80-90 km to Värmlandsnäs on the other side of Lake Vänern. SPIKEN FISHINGHARBOUR One of the largest lake fishing harbours in Europe. In the summer it’s the place to come for freshly smoked fish, crafts and local food as you wander round the fishing huts. Popular tourist attractions and events THETOWNHALL(RÅDHUSET) Lidköping town hall on Nya Stadens torg started life as Count Magnus Gabriel de la Gardie’s hunting lodge and was moved here from Kållandsö. VARNHEMANDKATAGÅRD During excavations on the hill behind the monastery ruins in Varnhem, archaeologists have made sensational finds that tell of the place from the time before the monks came there in the 12th century. Here is the ruin of one of Sweden's oldest churches, a private courtyard church from the Viking Age NOSSAN LIGHT FESTIVAL If you visit Grästorp in the autumn, do not miss the light festival Nossan Ljusfestival! It is an extraordinary experience of light. About 25,000 visitors come here every year to see the two-kilometre trail of illuminated scenery and exhibits along the River Nossan. VARACONCERTHALL Out in the countryside, the Vara Konserthus concert hall attracts 70,000 visitors each year with its quality stage productions. Here you can listen to symphonies that give you goosebumps, jazz that tickles your tummy, stand-up that makes you roar with laughter and theatre that brings a tear to your eye. AMIRALEN’S CULTURE CENTRE In the heart of Nossebro you will find Amiralen, which has over the years been a bathhouse, police station, town hall and fire station – the tower on which the fire hoses were hung to dry remains in place. Today, the building is a hub for body and soul, with several businesses in the fields of art, handicrafts and recreation.
