L O C A L LY P R O D U C E D FERTILE SOIL, SUNNY PLAINS and lime-rich rock have endowed the areas around Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle with an abundant larder. It is home to many ambi- tious growers and local food producers who make the most of what the land provides. The proximity to Lake Vänern makes the climate mild and conducive to cultivation, while the lake itself offers freshly-caught fish and vendace roe. Wild garlic grows in abundance on lime-rich Kinnekulle, and in spring and early summer it envelops the woodland meadows with a magical and delicate scent of onion. The glossy, lily-of-the-valley-like leaves are used for culinary purposes, while the flowers provide beautiful decoration. The flavour is suggestive of both leek and garlic and really has to be experienced. Why not try it in the form of a delicious wild garlic soup at a local restaurant? In other words, the whole area around Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle is made for unforgettable culinary experiences. You will find both cosy cafés and top-quality restau- rants – a total of ten cafés and restaurants are listed in the White Guide. FRUCHTBARE BÖDEN, viel Sonnenschein und kalkreiche Hänge bringen in der Feri- enregion Läckö-Kinnekulle Leckerbissen in Hülle und Fülle hervor. An jeder Ecke finden sich Erzeuger und Anbieter von Spezialitäten aus regionalem Anbau. Der Vänern sorgt für ein mildes, wachstumsförderndes Klima sowie für frischen Fisch und Löjrom, den speziellen Maränenrogen. Rund um den kalkreichen Kinnekulle wächst eine wilde Delikatesse: der Bärlauch, der den Wald im Frühling und im Frühsommer in seinen würzigen Duft hüllt. In der Küche werden die glatten, dem Maiglöckchen ähn- lichen Blätter verwendet, während die Blüten eine hübsche Dekoration abgeben. Sein Aroma erinnert an Lauch und Knoblauch – das muss man einfach mal probieren! Unser Tipp: eine leckere Bärlauchsuppe in einem der hiesigen Restaurants.
