purchased by enthusiasts in
1975
to preserve it's
history. Printing equipment consists of old hand
operated presses, cutting machines and various
lead font wooden blocks. Open wed.

Only ruins remain of this once mag-
nificent building. This castle which belonged
to amongst others, Ture Jönsson and Bengt
Oxenstierna was destroyed by fire in
1792
.
Originally a renaissance building from
1580
was
reconstructed in a Baroque fashion after a fire
in the
1600
's.

In
1298
Brynolf Algotsson, bishop of Skara
laid the foundation for a fortified castle. This
castle's period of grandeur was under Mag-
nus Gabriel De la Gardie possession. There is
a small garden and outdoor opera stage in the
courtyard. Open from may to september.

Count Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie's town plan
from
1671
consists of grid orthogonal streets
and neighbourhoods. A town square was placed
alongside the river Lidan. Today the square
flourishes with an open market every Wednes-
day and Saturday.

Known as one of the most beautiful caves in the
world it has a series of waterfalls formed by the
river Flian. At one time at least seven mills were
in this scenic valley dating back to the
1350s
.
This area flourished during the grain crop era of
1800s.
Three mills remain today.

Located in the former porcelain factory
1936–
2005
is the Rörstrand Centre which today
includes a museum, restaurants, outlet stores,
porcelain form and design academy as well as
a craft room where one can paint and fire their
own porcelain designs.

A statue of Sara Videbeck, created by artist
Wanja Håkansson stands proudly along the riv-
er bank in Lidköping. Sara is the daughter of the
town glazier in the novel ”Det går an” by Carl
Jonas Love Almqvist. When released in
1839
this novel was considered to be a scandal.

s. Johan
Petter Schoug traded in batch quantities; grain,
flour, sugar, syrup, brandy, beer, explosives and
gunpowder. The Schoug home one of the larg-
est in the city, housed approximately

This school was established by the village priest
of Tun, Jonas Silvius in
1762
. Education was
based upon the principals of Christianity. This is
a registered historic facility.

skalunda hög

This mound of stones which measures
60
meters in diameter is one of the largest burial
mounds in Sweden. Its ridge extends further out
into Lake Vänern in the form of barrier reefs.
From the top one has views of Lake Vänern. The
age of this mound is unknown

Spiken,an idyllic fishing village with picturesque
boathouses where one can buy fish or enjoy a
tasty meal. It is also the fishing centre for Lake
Vänern, the largest freshwater fishing port in
Northern Europe. This village offers plenty of
opportunities.

Lidan, one can wander the flowered paths to
the mirror pond in this immaculate town
garden. A playground and restaurant makes
this a pleasant setting for all ages.

prehistoric tombs
constructed from the Stone Age to the late Iron
Age. The oldest relic is a rock casket which
testifies that the area was inhabited during the
Stone Age. Mounds and other interesting stone
formations are found on the site.

stenkullen tun

This cairn is a
4,000
year old Bronze Age
burial ground. It measures
60
m in diameter and
7
m high and is one of the largest Bronze Age
cairns. At Stenkullen there are also remains of
a prehistoric settlement and a sacrificial alter.
The trail to the site begins at the church in Tun.
